2011 BMW Z4 Reviews

The 2011 BMW Z4’s specs are as follows
BMW has added a few new paint finishes to the mix, however, as well as the optional M Sports Package. The sDrive35is model will offer features like 18-inch light-alloy wheels in a five-spoke pattern as standard equipment. The 2011 BMW Z4 comes in three trim levels: the sDrive30i, the sDrive35i, and the sDrive35is.

Standard interior features on the base models of the two-seat roadster include leatherette vinyl upholstery, HD radio, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and six-way manually adjustable seats.
A six-speed manual transmission comes standard on all trims but the sDrive35is, which offers BMW’s dual-clutch seven-speed transmission. Remarkably, the high-performance version of the 2011 BMW Z4 is not as thirsty as one would expect because of its sophisticated BMW EfficientDynamics technology--As with all luxury sports cars, car insurance premiums on the 2011 Z4 are likely to be high.

For the 2010 Detroit show, BMW is bringing along a new range-topping Z4, one with a massaged engine, subtly modified looks, and a load of M Sport touches.

Transmission options number one; the sDrive35is will be available only with BMW’s seven-speed double-clutch transmission. BMW estimates a 0-to-60-mph time of 4.7 seconds—we’ve seen 4.8-second runs from a standard sDrive35i and wouldn’t be surprised if the sDrive35is can manage the task in something closer to 4.5 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph. What’s more, BMW expects the 35is car to match the EPA mileage rating of the 35i with dual-clutch transmission—17 mpg city/24 highway. The Z4 35is gets unique, sporty programming for its electric power steering system. We’ve derided this system in the standard car, calling it vague and lacking in feedback. Standard wheels are 18-inch five-spokes, with 19s available as an option. Interior trim is done in what BMW calls Aluminum Carbon, which supposedly renders the look of a carbon-fiber weave in aluminum.

The "2011 BMW Z4" is a two-seat retractable-hardtop luxury roadster available in three trim levels that correspond with engine choice: sDrive30i, sDrive35i and sDrive35is.
Standard equipment on the sDrive30i includes 17-inch wheels, adjustable sport driving settings (steering, throttle and automatic transmission if applicable), automatic adaptive xenon headlights, automatic wipers, a fully powered retractable hardtop, cruise control, leatherette premium vinyl upholstery, six-way manually adjustable seats and a sound system that includes a single-CD player, auxiliary audio jack and HD radio. This package includes 18-inch wheels, adaptive suspension dampers, an aerodynamic body kit, increased top speed, a thicker M steering wheel and 10-way manually adjustable sport seats with power bolster adjustment.
The Cold Weather package adds to all models heated seats, a heated steering wheel, retractable headlight washers and a trunk pass-through. The Premium package adds auto-dimming mirrors, power-adjustable seats, BMW Assist telematics, Bluetooth and on the 30i, leather upholstery and automatic climate control. A six-speed manual transmission is standard and a traditional six-speed automatic is optional. EPA-estimated fuel economy with both transmissions is 18 mpg city/28 mpg highway and 22 mpg combined.

A six-speed manual transmission is standard and a dual-clutch seven-speed automated manual is optional. The dual-clutch automated manual is standard. BMW estimates a 0-60 time of 4.7 seconds. Estimated fuel economy is 17/24/19.

Side impact airbags, antilock brakes with brake assist and stability control are all standard on the 2011 BMW Z4. BMW Assist emergency telematics is optional.
The 2011 BMW Z4's cabin is sleek and upscale.

Even the base "2011 BMW Z4" sDrive30i is an entertaining drive thanks to its willing and exceptionally smooth 255-hp inline-6.

The BMW X5 SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) rides on unique 21 inch alloy rims that are wrapped in high performance tires.

BMW has released a range of BMW Performance products for the facelifted E70 BMW X5. BMW Performance bodykits look different from the M-Sport bodykits and are often more aggressive-looking.

Anyway back to the BMW Performance parts for the "BMW X5". There’s now a BMW Performance Aero Kit for the BMWX5, which BMW claims was developed in BMW’s wind tunnel in Munich.

On the interior there’s a BMW Performance Aluminium Pedal Kit which is made of aluminum with rubber inserts.
The package basically consists of aerodynamic components, aluminum pedals, special kidney grilles, and a new flat-bottom Sport steering wheel.

The 2011 BMW 328i

The rear-wheel drive BMW 328i is available in coupe, sedan, wagon and cabriolet bodies, while the xDrive all-wheel drive system is available in coupe, sedan and wagon only. A six-speed manual transmission is standard on all variations, with a six-speed automatic transmission optional.

As BMW runs a war path with new model introductions — two gigantic, turtle-shaped crossovers a year, at this pace — they haven't forgotten where the profit margin lies. It's in the little 3 Series. Young maverick-type men and attractive suburban women can't, for the life of themselves, stay away from this car. So BMW's getting generous. It's a no-charge combo of 17-inch alloys, leather and iPod integration. In other words, BMW looked dumb selling a luxury car with 16-inchers, fake leather, and a $400 USB cable when Audi, Acura and even Mercedes do more for less.

At about the same time the 2011 BMW 328i Sport Wagon became available at U.S. dealers the all-new 5-series was also. If BMW’s X3 or X5 Sport Activity Vehicles meet your need, then you are still OK. If you wanted a car with space and versatility, then the 3-sport wagon is it.

The interior of the 3-wagon is stylish, comfortable and ergonomically friendly. For those bad weather conditions especially winter, in addition to the xDrive all-wheel–drive system, Dynamic Stability, Traction and Brake Control systems enhance the driving experience and overall safety. Looking at the X3, BMW’s smaller Sport Activity Vehicle or crossover, pricing starts at $38,850 whereas the Sport Wagon starts at $37,700. The X3 is a little quicker 0 to 60 mph at 7.1 sec. v 7.3 sec. for the Sport Wagon but there is a fuel economy tradeoff with the Sport Wagon at 17 city mpg and 26 highway mpg and the X3 at 17 city mpg but 24 highway mpg.

The Sport Wagon holds 25 cu. ft. behind the rear seat and the X3 holds 30 cuft. On the outside, the Sport Wagon is 1.3 inches shorter and a significant 10.2 inches lower. The empty-nester couple will be very comfortable in the Sport Wagon and the 4-doors and rear seat allow for easy accommodation of friends or family.

Most BMW dealers will provide a BMW loaner if you schedule it in advance…always a quick test drive opportunity

BMW M version of the 1-Series has finally debuted

Long rumoured and then long anticipated, the BMW M version of the 1-Series has finally debuted. Originally expected to be much more powerful, the 1-Series M Coupe ends up using a mildly-upgraded version of the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-6, with 335 hp at 5900 rpm and 450 Nm of torque from 1500 rpm to 4500 rpm, an engine already found in the 2010 BMW Z4 sDrive35is. A 6-speed manual is standard.

That figure marks the "BMW 1 Series M" out as the most “powerful” car in the compact sector. A 3.0-litre powertrain smacks out 340 ponies, helping to propel the BMW 1 Series M Coupe from 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds, while on its way to a top speed of 155mph. The aforementioned stealthy exterior comes courtesy of widened wheel arches, 19-inch Y-spoke M alloy wheels, and dual chrome tailpipes – made to make your mouth water. Crack open the 1 Series’ doors and you'll find standard sports seats in Boston leather with Kyalami orange stitching. Everything else on display comes exclusively with the "BMW 1 Series M Coupe", this includes the use of Alcantara with Kyalami orange contrast stitching on the door trim, door inserts, handbrake, gear lever gaiter and instrument binnacle cover.

Changes to the M1 are extensive over the standard BMW 1 Series Coupe, a fact made most obvious by its jutting wheel arches, widened axles and huge 19-inch alloy wheels.
There are also quad exhaust tailpipes, aggressive front and rear bumpers with scooped air intakes, racing-style door mirrors and just three paint colours: Alpine White, Black Sapphire and Valencia Orange.

BMW X7 - BMW Reconsider Building X7 SUV?

While BMW is marketing itself as a sustainable automaker, pushing its “efficient dynamics” technologies, behind the scenes the accountants and execs still know that big gas guzzling SUVs are a quick way to make a fast buck. It’s for this reason that the German automaker is reportedly looking to introduce a larger X7 SUV.

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, BMW is now “reconsidering its decision to cancel a new large SUV, which was meant mainly for U.S. buyers.”

Various sources are reporting today the initial BMW X7 info as the German company has announced its plans of building a larger SUV, larger than the X5 that is. Previous plans of building the "BMW X7 "were shut down due to the financial crisis of the last two years. Apparently, BMW is doing better now and it looks to re-open the BMW X7 project. Well the Chinese are known for having a soft spot for large cars, so it's natural BMW is considering an even larger (than the X5) X7 SUV.

BMW seems to have its mind set on cornering the SUV market, with its rumored plans for a bigger X7 designed to become a player on the US market.

The company is counting on a speedy economic recovery in North America, thus opening up new market opportunities for a big BMW SUV to take on the Chevy Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Escalade and other kings of the road.

China’s strong demand for luxury goods makes it BMW’s most profitable market for large sedans, Bernstein Research estimating that 50% of BMW’s operating profits come from China. BMW themselves admit profits in China are in the low two-digit range

Aiding performance for the rear-wheel drive 2010 BMW M5 is a vehicle-speed-sensitive variable-assist power steering, dubbed M Servotronic.

BMW M1 super car has completed 30 long years in market.

BMW M1 series has offered two hatchback models with 3 door as well as 5 door hatchbacks. However, these 2 models can't render a platform for a great success for BMW series 1. The 2010 BMW M1 model is to be launched officially in the year 2010. BMW M1 super car has completed 30 long years in market.

In order two squeeze even the last buck out that technical platform, BMW will offer a new sportier pair of models, coupe and cabriolet.

Following the traditional naming politics, the fresh sports cars will be called Series 2 (at BMW, sporty models usually use even numbers, ex: Series 6, Series 8). The additional space required is usually offered by the “power dome” featured on the M Models hood.

BMW Recall

The German group revealed on Friday 1, October it had found a fault in the power braking system used in its BMW 5, 6 and 7 Series, however Rolls-Royce chairman and BMW executive Ian Robertson said the firm is "resolving the situation quickly".

A BMW spokesman told the BBC that the problem was identified via feedback from routine vehicle servicing, and that the recall is entirely voluntary.

Owing to this recall, the stocks of BMW drop to 3 percent below the 50 euros mark. There has been no further PR statement release from BMW.

The recall affects V8 and V12-powered BMW 5 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series, and Rolls-Royce models produced between July 2001 and November 2009.

2010 BMW X6 Review

2010 BMW X6
BMW isn't the first manufacturer to call a non-coupe a coupe.
The midsizer, which is based on the BMW X5, has a dramatically downward-sloping roof line, evoking the timeless profiles of classic fastback coupes (or, less charitably, the Pontiac Aztek). As such, style trumps utility. Overall, the BMW X6 is a capable niche vehicle that should appeal to those who want solid BMW SUV fundamentals in a spruced-up package. Current BMW X6

The BMW X6 comes in two trim levels: xDrive 35i and xDrive50i. The xDrive35i features a turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine and comes standard with such luxuries as leather upholstery, power front seats and premium audio. The xDrive35i's 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 pumps out a frisky 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, while the xDrive50i's 4.4-liter turbocharged V8 bristles with 400 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. A performance upgrade option cranks those outputs up to 320 hp and 440 hp, respectively.

All X6 models are equipped with all-wheel drive and a trick torque distribution system called Dynamic Performance Control. Cargo capacity, while adequate, is considerably below average for the midsize crossover SUV segment.

In performance testing, our editors appreciated the X6's sprightly performance, especially in xDrive50i trim. The "BMW X6" makes sense for well-heeled buyers who want an SUV but care more about looks and performance than utility. Used BMW X6 Models

This ranking is based on our analysis of 31 published reviews and test drives of the BMW X6, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.

The 2010 BMW X6 combines sleek coupe looks and sporty BMW performance with SUV utility. For that huge price premium, you’ll only get a small bump in fuel economy. "It's incredibly expensive and sucks down fuel at an alarming rate. For singles or couples with money to burn, it's hard to beat the BMW's amazing handling and awesome high-tech gadgetry. For people with families or cargo needs, less expensive and more practical choices abound. The Acura MDX provides BMW-like luxury and a fun (though less stimulating) driving experience at a price that's about $14,000 less than the BMW X6 Or,
if you can't live without the BMW name, consider the German automaker's own X5. Finally, if you want another gadget-friendly vehicle, look at the Infiniti FX.

BMW M1 model is a sports car

BMW 1 series has offered two hatchback models with 3 door as well as 5 door hatchbacks. However, these 2 models can't render a platform for a great success for BMW series 1. As BMW M3 model is offered with V8 engine, buyers of BMW series 1 are quite confident that the power offered is quite outstanding in its class and no vehicle can compete with the standards of M1 series. The 2010 BMW M1 model is to be launched officially in the year 2010. BMW M1 super car has completed 30 long years in market.

The BMW M1 model is the first M-Series model produced by BMW, during the period 1978 to 1981. The BMW M1 model is designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro.

2012 BMW 1-Series Hatchback Spied Spy Shots

BMW released an updated version of the 1-Series compact in late 2008 but since then suspicious prototypes of a new car with similar proportions and signature BMW styling have been captured running around the south of Germany. Previously, we had only seen early development test-mules but the latest shots reveal full prototypes for the next-generation 1-Series Hatchback model.2012 BMW 1-Series Hatchback Spied Spy Shots

The current 1-Series has often been criticized for having a back seat no full-sized adult would be comfortable in. However, the rear seat room in this new 2012 model is expected to be much improved. This may also see BMW finally release the Hatchback version of the 1-Series in the all-important U.S. market. A slightly longer wheelbase and wider track than the current model will almost certainly be present. The 2011 1-Series coupes and convertibles received a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic to the 135i, as well as a twin-scroll turbocharged six-cylinder engine. For 2012, we expect this drivetrain to remain in any 135 variants.
The existing BMW and PSA Group alliance, which already produces engines for MINI, will be building engines ranging from 1.4-liters to 3.0-liters for the next-gen 1-Series. Turbos are most certainly on the list, but an M version is said to be out of the question again. Instead, we’re expecting “green” models such as low-polluting diesels and hybrids.

2010 BMW M6 Overview

2010 BMW M6 Overview

A 7-speed Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG) with steering wheel shift paddles is standard; a conventional 6-speed manual transmission is also available. Distinguishing standard features include exclusive M designed 19-inch forged alloy wheels, heated leather M sport front seats and BMW's M Drive button on the steering wheel to save and retrieve preferred driving settings.

The following is a performance-capsule review of the 2010 BMW M6.

The 2010 BMW M6 is a performance-tuned variant of the 2010 BMW 6-Series -- which earns praise for its powerful 360-horsepower engine, elegant exterior design and exquisitely finished interior cabin.

BMW, however, offers a six-speed manual transmission that more than makes up for the seven-speed's faults. The 2010 BMW M6's lack of steering feel, however, remains. The 2010 BMW M6 is available in both coupe and convertible body styles

Few super luxury sports cars have performance-tuned trims that can compete with the 2010 BMW M6's overall package. Car shoppers comparing the 2010 BMW M6 to the 2010 BMW M5 should note that the M6 costs roughly $16K more, but features much of the same performance components and figures.

Otherwise, critics love the way the "2010 BMW M6 blasts to mind-numbing speeds.
Aiding performance for the rear-wheel-drive 2010 BMW M6 is a vehicle-speed-sensitive variable-assist power steering, dubbed M Servotronic. Moreover, the 2010 BMW M6 features an independent suspension system".
