Los Angeles Auto Show-Toyota to bring a RAV4 electric vehicle to the market

Not a long time ago we’ve been presenting the partnership between Tesla and Toyota to bring a RAV4 electric vehicle to the market. Tesla-Toyota RAV4 promises more than Nissan’s Leaf – a true, clean 100 miles of pure electric driving no matter what the weather’s like or the temperature outside. s Toyota showcased a prototype of its highly anticipated new RAV4 EV at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week, on the other side of the ocean, executives made a series of intriguing new announcements about the company's electric-drive vehicles.
The company currently sells eight hybrids in the United States-split between the Toyota and Lexus nameplates-and in September repeated its commitment to releasing six new models by 2012.
- Pricing for the Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid will be in the 3 million yen ($36,000) range when that car is released in Japan in 2012. - Toyota still plans to release a fuel cell hybrid in Japan sometime around 2015.
Fourteen years after it launched its very first RAV4 crossover at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Toyota returned to Los Angeles to launch an all-electric version of its latest RAV4.
Japan’s largest automaker has worked with Silicon Valley electric-car maker Tesla since the May announcement that Toyota would buy a stake in Tesla and the companies would develop electric cars together.
The partnership will build 35 “Phase Zero” test versions of the latest RAV4 EV next year, with production launch expected in 2012.
Few technical details were released, and Toyota USA president and CEO Jim Lentz stressed that many details remained to be resolved. Styling changes to the all-white RAV4 EV unveiled at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show include a new grille front bumper, fog lamps and headlights up front. No cargo area was lost in the conversion; with the rear seats folded down, the RAV4 EV offers 73 cubic feet of storage, just as the current gasoline model does.
Performance Toyota is excited about the collaboration of Toyota and Tesla to create the all-new electric Toyota RAV4-EV, expected to hit Nebraska showrooms in 2012.
The all-electric Toyota RAV4-EV will combine the Toyota RAV4 model with a Tesla electric powertrain to give drivers maximum performance and versatility. A prototype of the Toyota RAV4-EV has already been created by Tesla and is currently being tested by Toyota. A first all-electric Toyota RAV4 was developed in 1997 and sold until 2003. The new Toyota RAV4-EV is expected to perform at higher speeds and have an even greater range.
Toyota and Tesla have not set a starting cost for the Toyota RAV4-EV, but it is expected to be lower than other all-electric vehicles from Tesla. Tesla hopes to drive down the cost of electric vehicles so they are within reach of mainstream buyers.

What will be the price of 2011 Toyota Yaris Models
Toyota Yaris hatchbacks also offer significantly less cargo capacity than some rivals.
Drivers seeking the most utility will appreciate the Fit, along with the SX4 and Versa hatchbacks; the Fit and SX4 offer more than twice the cargo space of Toyota Yaris hatchbacks, with the Versa not too far behind.

The "2011 Toyota Yaris" is a subcompact economy car that is available as a three-door hatchback, five-door hatchback and four-door sedan. Standard features include 14-inch steel wheels, intermittent windshield wipers, air-conditioning, four-way-adjustable front seats and a tilt steering wheel. The Convenience package adds 60/40-split rear seats (slide/recline for the hatchbacks), 15-inch wheels, a rear-window wiper for hatchback models and a CD/MP3 player with auxiliary audio jack and satellite radio
The front-wheel-drive 2011 Toyota Yaris is powered by a 1.5-liter inline-4 engine with an output of 106 hp and 103 pound-feet of torque. At an EPA-estimated 29 mpg city/36 mpg highway and 32 mpg combined, the manual-equipped Yaris sips less gas than most of the competition.
In government testing, the Toyota Yaris sedan scored four out of five stars for frontal- and side-impact protection for all occupants. Both 2011 Toyota Yaris hatchbacks feature cramped rear seats, but the optional slide/recline function adds a bit more comfort to compensate. Styling differs slightly between the sedan and the hatchbacks, with the sedan being more sedate.
Every Toyota Yaris model features a center-mounted instrument panel. Relative to sedan models, Toyota Yaris hatchbacks offer certain advantages when it comes to design and storage capacity. The sedan offers 12.9 cubic feet of luggage capacity--less than competing sedans like the Ford Focus, Nissan Versa and Suzuki SX4.
The 2011 Toyota Yaris ranks 25 out of 30 Affordable Small Cars. In 2010 the Yaris adopted the Toyota Star Safety System as a standard feature that includes anti-lock brakes, stability control and traction control. The Yaris also has a simplistic, cute design that reviewers like, and good fuel economy of 29/35 mpg city/highway. First, the 2011 Toyota Yaris’s interior is bland compared to the competition’s. Unlike the Fiesta and Fit, the Yaris does not prioritize driver comport.
Reviewers do point out that Toyota didn’t model the Yaris after high performance luxury vehicles. "In the end, the…Toyota Yaris remains a sensible choice,” Edmunds says. Unlike the Yaris, the Ford Fiesta comes standard with automatic windows. The Ford Fiesta, averaging 28 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway, matches the Toyota Yaris’s fuel economy--2011 Toyota Yaris
The 2011 Toyota Yaris is offered as a three- and five- door hatchback or a four-door sedan.

SEMA 2010-Toyota introduced a Prius at SEMA show

SEMA 2010
Toyota introduced a Prius at the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) show this week the previews an upcoming sport model. With the Prius Plus Performance Package, the Prius is enhanced cosmetically, with the promise to retain its stellar fuel economy.
New 17-inch wheels are wrapped in low-profile 215/45R17 tires.
Finishing touches include obligatory "Plus" badging and logo-emblazoned floor mats.
Toyota will be offering the Plus Performance Package in limited quantities beginning in April of next year. The 2010 SEMA Show will mark the debut of the all-new Toyota Prius PLUS Performance Package, a new hybrid performance line by Toyota Racing Development (TRD). Developed to meet the evolving demands of the growing hybrid segment, PLUS enhances the driving experience for Toyota hybrid enthusiasts by offering cool and fun accessories that add sporty looks with performance handling. The Prius PLUS Performance Package starts with a seven-piece aerodynamic body kit including a uniquely styled rear diffuser, which enhances its already sleek appearance and maintains its 0.25 coefficient of drag.
The PLUS package delivers surprising traction and handling without sacrificing any fuel efficiency. The package also includes exclusive floormats with a "PLUS" logo and a unique "PLUS" exterior badge.
What kind of mileage would the Toyota Prius plug-in hybrid get on a road trip, say, from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and back? To find out, I drove to Vegas.
OK, so I drove to Vegas for the "SEMA show". While the Mojave is home to nine solar power plants now, with more on the way, Interstate 15 as far as I know has exactly zero EV charging stations between my Los Angeles home and the vapid, bottomless, energy-inefficient glitz of Las Vegas.
So by the time I filled up the gas tank and headed east, the Prius was running on gasoline alone (and whatever small squirts of regenerative braking pumped up its primary battery pack). It was, effectively, just a regular 2010 Prius.
Initiating passing maneuvers on the highway results in wildly flailing engine revs and, eventually, some forward motion. Whatever power comes from the four-banger and its accompanying batteries (spec sheet says it's 134 hp) is eaten up by the CVT. Remember also that this is a design tuned for efficiency, from its low-rolling-resistance tires to its efficiently aerodynamic shape.
So maybe that's why I got mileage poorer than the car's claimed 50-mpg rating. For the 597.2 miles up, back and around Las Vegas, I got just less than 40 mpg.
Hybrids are not meant for long-haul trucking, of course. In the city, the Prius plug-in has hit right about 50 mpg so far on gasoline and 62 mpg combined with battery power. If I plug in my plug-in Prius every 12.5 miles, I will never need gasoline. If I drive it to Vegas, I need gasoline the whole way. An evil Santa. An evil, mad-scientist Santa!
Even through the fog of the syrupy and chemically unstable Red Bull, I remember thinking, "They probably shouldn't be parading this guy before the press."

Toyota Highlander Hybrid

Toyota Highlander Hybrid moves forward
Toyota has reworked its Highlander Hybrid for the 2011 model year, and for what is essentially a mid-life cycle refresh, the changes are fairly substantial and very worthwhile. There are two models to choose from, the Highlander Hybrid (with available Comfort Package) and Highlander Hybrid Limited.
The biggest change is under the hood, where the 2011 Highlander Hybrid features an enhanced version of Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain.
Search available options for the Toyota Highlander Hybrid.
The new 3.5L includes cooled exhaust heat recovery and exhaust gas recirculation systems, which improve cold weather performance in our Canadian winters. Normally, more power equals less fuel economy, but the 2011 Highlander Hybrid actually enjoys a ten-percent improvement in fuel mileage. Other interior refinements throughout the Highlander model range include; All Highlander V6 audio systems now feature a USB input and XM Satellite Radio capability; the four-wheel-drive Highlander V6 is standard equipped with Bluetooth connectivity; both models now come with Toyota’s automatic headlamp system and rear-seat HVAC controls as standard.
As you go up the new model line-up, a new Sport Package for the four-wheel-drive Highlander V6 (non-hybrid) adds a power moon-roof, 19-inch wheels, three-zone independent automatic climate control and leather interior finishes.
At the top, the four-wheel-drive V6 Highlander Limited, now has Bluetooth and a navigation system as standard equipment.
Outside the new Highlander Hybrid, the design changes are subtle, yet effective. If I am being honest, which normally I am, I would have to say of my time spent with the 2011 Toyota Highlander Hybrid that it was typically Toyota for most part. As impressed with the power as I was, I guess the best compliment I can pay the new Highlander Hybrid is that it didn’t feel like a hybrid. It drove exactly like you’d expect any SUV to drive. If you want a new SUV, and you think it might be time for a hybrid, the new 2011 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is worth a serious look.
To improve cold starts in our Canadian winters, there's a new exhaust heat-recovery system.
Outwardly - that grille, resembling an exposed radiator, or kitchen strainer, has been replaced with a more conventional horizontal chrome-bar piece, integrated with stylishly narrow and protruding headlamps. The lantern-jaw of its predecessor gives way to a chrome trimmed air dam with foglights housed in matte-chrome.
Once optional, now standard - all Highlanders are equipped with 3rd row seating for a capacity of seven passengers. And the third row now splits 50/50 for more versatility when carrying odd-shaped loads. The display features nifty graphics that reward the more frugal driver with feedback on fuel usage and energy regained by regenerative braking.

New 2011 Toyota Highlander

There are 2WD and 4WD entry level models, plus the flagship 4WD Limited.
The 2011 Toyota Highlander is powered by a 3.5 litre dual VVT-i petrol engine with an electronically controlled automatic transmission. All models offer driver and passenger front, driver’s knee, front side and three-row curtain shield airbags. An Anti-lock System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA) is standard, as is steering assisted Vehicle Stability Control Plus (VSC ) and Traction Control (TRC).
Inside, the Limited has the added features of dual-zone climate controlled air conditioning, rear climate controlled air conditioning, power front seat adjustment, driver’s seat variable cushion length adjustment, front seat heaters, perforated leather seat trim, four-spoke leather steering wheel with air conditioning controls, leather gearshift lever, stainless steel Highlander scuff plates and a six-disc CD changer.
For 2011, 2011 Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid get updated styling and performance upgrades – plus more competitive pricing. The 2011 Toyota Highlander MSRP starts at $31,500 – its lowest ever and a full $1,750 lower than the base price of the cheapest 2010 models. What's more, the 2011 models come equipped with even more standard features.
Toyota Canada also announced a new value option package for 2011 RAV4. The Touring Extra Value Package includes a power moonroof, unique wheels, an upgraded stereo with steering wheel-mounted audio controls, XM Satellite Radio capability and six-disc CD changer, upgraded cloth seats and more. The first new Lexus to hit Canadian dealerships will be the refreshed 2011 Lexus IS series.
Toyota Highlander utterly dominates its class and sport utility sales have defied market conditions by remaining buoyant - accounting for 20 percent of whole new vehicle market. How many times, Ford, do we have to say it: Diesel, diesel, diesel. Toyota product spokesman Neeraj Lala says there's still a core of customers who, having weighed up running costs and performance differences, still prefer petrol. Amazingly, you need tick the options list to buy what it really needs: Reversing sensors. Out on the road, there's little evidence of big change. Both cars I drove never beat 15L/100km.
Ride quality isn't bad, and the Toyota Australia-tuned suspension provides good control for a car so large, though the electronic driving aids quickly rein in any derring-do, as is the Toyota way.

2011 Toyota Sequoia reviews
Manufactured in Indiana and unveiled in 2000, the Toyota Sequoia is a full-sized truck-based SUV. At a slightly larger total size than the Land Cruiser, it is the largest SUV currently sold by Toyota. A definite improvement over previous versions, the Sequoia is worth considering by those in the market for a large, luxury SUV.
The Sequoia is available in three trim levels: the base SR5, the mid-tier Limited, and the full-bore premium Platinum edition. Sequoias are available in either 2WD or 4WD and in the customer’s choice of a 4.6-liter or 5.7-liter V8 motor that Toyota pairs with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Recent reviews of the newest Sequoia suggest that Toyota has once again delivered a class-leading ride. Reviewers also laud the gear transitions, towing performance, and performance at capacity.
The 2011 Toyota Sequoia comes in either 4-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, depending upon driver preferences.
The larger engine performs slightly worse, offering 13 and 18 for drivers.
The 2011 Toyota Sequoia features all of the swanky things that drivers demand in their luxury SUVs. Toyota bases the Sequoia on the Tundra, and the Tundra has been busy earning a reputation for an underwhelming interior. The Sequoia’s interior is stylish, modern, convenient, and family-friendly. In terms of safety, the Sequoia offers front-seat side and knee airbags, three-row side curtain airbags, anti-lock disc brakes, and stability control. Overall, the 2011 Toyota Sequoia is a lot like last year’s Sequoia.
You should be aware that when reviewing" 2011 Toyota Sequoia" reviews, what is said regarding a vehicle can typically be applied to the entire generation.
Also, when looking at 2011 Toyota Sequoia reviews, you should take them with a grain of salt.
We compile the best quotes so you don’t have to pour through several 2011 Toyota Sequoia model reviews.
Toyota automaker manufacture in Indiana has unveiled new series truck 2011 Toyota Sequoia with sufficient to fully heal, its 2011 Toyota Sequoia. The Toyota Sequoia full-size sport utility vehicle moves into 2011 with minor interior trim changes. Both engines run on recommended regular-grade fuel. The Toyota Sequoia Limited and Platinum grades feature a standard iForce DOHC 5.7-liter V8, also teamed to a six-speed electronically controlled automatic. The 5.7-liter engine produces 381 hp at 5,600 RPM and 401 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,600 RPM, among the highest outputs in this vehicle class. The 5.7-liter V8 enables the Sequoia to tow up to 7,400 lbs. (depending on model grade and equipment). A Tow/Haul mode modifies transmission shift points for optimal performance. The Toyota Sequoia’s towing hitch is integrated into the frame as a single unit.
The 5.7-liter V8 is also equipped with dual independent Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i). An Acoustic Control Induction System (ACIS) switches the intake tract length in two stages, based on engine RPM and throttle angle, to optimize torque across the engine speed range.

lexus recall-toyota recall list

The maker has found that its IS, GS and RX models have been affected by brake master cylinder and fuel pump problems.
Fuel pump problems on the upmarket GS 300 models built between September 2004 and February 2006 have caused the second recall. Belinda Poole Lexus director, said: ‘We apologise for any inconvenience or concern these recalls may cause our customers.
Lexus is working with VOSA to contact owners by letter to advise them to take their vehicle to a Lexus Centre or an Official Lexus Service Outlet for the necessary repair work to be done.
According to Toyota, there maybe a problem with the brake master cylinder cup in nearly 1.5 million of its vehicles around the world. Without getting too technical, if you have the problem, you'll notice your brakes feel a bit "spongy." Here are pictures of the vehicles affected by this recall.
Braking power can slowly decline as fluid leaks from the master brake cylinder. Toyota vehicles outside North America have defective fuel pumps that could cause engine stalls.
Vehicles Affected by Latest Toyota Recall:
• 2005-2006 Toyota Avalon
• 2004-2006 Toyota Highlander
• 2004-2006 Lexus RX 330

toyota corolla 2010 Recall?

Toyota Motor Company has issued a recall on select 2010 Corolla and Matrix models but rather than using the dirty “R word”, Toyota is calling this program a Limited Service Campaign. This Limited Service Campaign affects around 9,400 Corolla models and 1,350 Matrix models, with all of them being powered by Toyota’s 2ZR-FE 1.8L 4-cylinder engine. Doesn’t that sound like a recall?
Not a recall by name, but this 2010 Toyota Corolla and Matrix issue could cause owners major problems
According to Reuters, the 10,750 affected 2010 Corolla and Matrix models may have an issue with the early deterioration and disintegration of the serpentine belt that drives the alternator, air condition compressor and most importantly, the water pump. It is not unusual for serpentine belts to break when left unchecked, as the rubber belts are constantly exposed to extreme temperatures which help to increase the wear and tear on the belt.
Toyota has arranged for a “Limited Service Campaign”, which seems more like a polite word for the ominous “Recall” tag, on select 2010 Corolla and Matrix models to fix an accessory belt issue.
The problem originates in the engine accessory belt which is used to transfer force from the engine to the air conditioner.
There are about 9,400 Corollas that could have the accessory belt issue, and 1,350 Matrix vehicles

Toyota Hilux Overview

Toyota Hilux review
The Toyota Hilux review indicates that the car will be equipped with a 3956cc DOHC diesel engine. The length of the car is 5130mm and its width is 1760mm while its height is 1680 mm. The car will be able to seat 4 individuals comfortably. The car will have 5 manual gears and the ground clearance of the car will be 177mm.
The car has air conditioner with climate control feature. The safety features in the car include airbags for driver as well as passenger. The car comes with seatbelt pretensioners for driver and the passenger. The car has fog lamp and traction control.
The car will be available in a single design variation.
Drivers of the Toyota Hilux shouldn’t expect road manners comparable with a regular SUV. Standard four-wheel-drive means it's accomplished off-road, too. The 2.5-litre engine is durable, but we prefer the beefier 3.0-litre from the Land Cruiser. Many owners fit a rear load cover, for added security; Toyota dealers offer a huge array of options. Three trim lines include HL2, HL3 and the lavish Invincible. The latest generation Toyota Hilux was described by Toyota as being ‘one step up’ from the old model, and a much roomier cabin reflects this. Various tax breaks mean business users can claim back VAT on the Toyota Hilux purchase price, and pay less Benefit In Kind tax than for conventional cars – hence the model’s popularity. Fuel economy is comparable with a Land Rover Freelander Td4, and retained values are very impressive.
Incredibly the model range of Toyota Hilux 4x4 and 4x2 models now totals some 30 variants.
Toyota Hilux comes in 14 4x2 models, 16 4x4 models, three cabin styles (Single cab, Xtra Cab and Double Cab), three equipment grades (Work mate, SR and SR5) and offers a choice of three engines – 2.7-litre, 4-cylinder petrol; 4.0-litre V6 petrol or 3.0-litre turbo-diesel.
Toyota Hilux too light for your needs? Toyota’s new 2TR-FE 2.7-litre, four cylinder petrol powerplant offers VVT-I variable valve timing amongst a heap of new technology compared to the previous 2.7-litre engine. Power is up by 14kW to 118kW at 5300 rpm and torque improves by 13Nm to 214Nm at 3800 rpm.
Lining up against some formidable opposition, the Toyota Hilux range presents strong credentials with typically pleasant and ergonomic Toyota interiors.
The three-section instrument panel provides circular analogue instruments (LED in Work mate and SR models). Grey tone fabric trims are reminiscent of other Toyota models (Work mate models get vinyl naturally).
Toyota Hilux contemporary looks are typically Toyota – conservative yet stylish.
SR5 models are distinguished by 15-inch alloy wheels, body colour front bumper and radiator grille, a Sports Bar, chrome step rear bumper and chrome door handles and exterior mirrors.
Toyota Hilux continues to dominate the ute market with both commercial and recreational buyers (around 20 per cent of Toyota Hilux sales are accounted for by private recreational use).

Toyota RAV4-new version of the Toyota Rav4 EV

Toyota RAV4 SUVs are about to get an extreme electronic makeover thanks to niche automaker Tesla. Electric car producer Telsa Motor Corp. said it would team up with Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corp. to produce an "electric version of Toyota's RAV4".
Tesla has also purchased a former Toyota factory in Fremont, Calif., where it produced cars in partnership with General Motors Co.
Back in July, Tesla and Toyota announced that the electric vehicle they'd announced they were co-developing two months prior was a new version of the Toyota Rav4 EV. Today, Tesla has revealed more details about the nature of the project.
Under the terms of the agreement, Tesla will develop a battery, motor, gearbox, "power electronics module" and all the necessary software for an all-electric version of Toyota's Rav4 compact SUV.
For their services, Toyota will pay Tesla some $60 million paid over the term of the agreement. Toyota announced when the project began in July that the "Toyota RAV4" EV would reach the market in 2012.
That sum comes in addition to the stake Toyota has already acquired in Tesla. Prior to the initial deal in announced in July, Toyota had agreed to buy $50 million of Tesla's common stock in a private placement transaction that took effect when Tesla filed its Initial Public Offering, which netted the EV-maker $226 million.
Tesla Motors Inc. will receive approximately $60 million from Toyota Motor Corp. to research and develop an electrical powertrain system for a new version of Toyota’s popular RAV4 crossover SUV, according to information filed with the U.S. Securities Exchange Commission.
Some sources indicate Tesla will adapt the battery system already used in its Tesla Roadster luxury sports cars for the new Toyota RAV4.
A previous electric version of the Toyota RAV4 was manufactured from 1997 to 2003. The Toyota investment was critical to the success of Tesla’s June initial public offering, which raised $226 million for the fledgling automaker.
At the time of Toyota’s investment, Tesla agreed to buy Toyota’s recently closed New United Motor Manufacturing Inc. plant in Fremont, Calif.

2010 Toyota Tundra Full Size Pickup Trucks

2010 Toyota Tundra Review
The 2010 Toyota Tundra Full Size Pickup Trucks. The Toyota Tundra is a solid truck, but with competitors offering fresher designs and innovative features, it finds itself struggling in a very competitive class.
In 2009, Ford introduced a redesigned F-150 and Dodge redesigned the Ram. Several reviewers say the "Toyota Tundra" ride is bouncy when compared to the F-150 and the Ram, while others say that the interior features that buyers can opt for on other trucks isn't available on the Toyota Tundra. Both have better fuel economy than the Toyota Tundra and have base prices about $2,000 less than the Tundra's.
For 2010, Toyota has refreshed the Toyota Tundra to help it stay with the pack. The Tundra Toyota Tundra is available with a Regular, Double and CrewMax cab.
A redesigned Tundra pickup has arrived, however, and with it Toyota hopes this truck will finally attract serious pickup truck buyers. An American-built half-ton truck with true full-size proportions, the second-generation Tundra features three cab sizes, three bed lengths and a choice of three engines. In every measure, the Toyota Tundra now stands on equal or higher ground than competing half-ton pickups.
The full-size, half-ton Toyota Tundra comes in regular cab, Double Cab and CrewMax body styles. The Double Cab is essentially a large extended cab with four forward-hinged doors, while the Tundra CrewMax is an extra-large crew cab.
For the regular cab, Toyota offers just a basic Grade trim level only. Available bed lengths for the regular cab and Tacoma Double Cabs include both a 6.5-foot and an 8-foot bed, while the CrewMax comes with only a 5.5-foot bed.
The medium-size Double Cab -- which is now the extended-cab version of the Toyota Tundra -- is as large as many competitors' crew cabs, while the massive Tundra CrewMax has the roomiest four-door cab in the full-size segment.
Three engines are available, allowing the second-gen Toyota Tundra to suit almost any need. The V6 gets a five-speed automatic transmission, while the V8s are hooked to six-speed automatics. Used Toyota Tundra Models
The current Toyota Tundra represents the second generation, which debuted for the 2008 model year. The previous-generation full-size Toyota Tundra replaced the unloved T100 pickup when it debuted for 2000. Originally, the Tundra was available in regular and extended-cab versions. Regular-cab versions came only in long bed form, while the extended-cab models (Access Cab) came only with the short bed. The base trim was available on two-wheel-drive regular cabs only. A 3.4-liter V6, making 190 hp and 220 lb-ft of torque, was standard on regular-cab Tundras and could be mated to either a four-speed automatic or a five-speed manual transmission.
Topping the lineup was an available 4.7-liter V8 engine. Only detail changes carried through to 2003, at which point Toyota expanded the Tundra's lineup to include an available sporty new StepSide cargo bed for V8-powered Access Cabs. The big news for 2004 was the arrival of the Double Cab, a crew-cab version of the Toyota Tundra.

Toyota RAV4 Review

Review 2010 Toyota RAV4
It boasts an affordable base price, excellent fuel economy and a long list of accolades. The 2010 Toyota RAV4 is consistently compared to the Honda CR-V, which comes with a nearly identical base price, but worse fuel economy. Several reviewers also prefer the RAV4's refined exterior to the CR-V's awkward front grille.
High demand and high resale value The "2010 Toyota RAV4" would traditionally make it difficult to negotiate a great deal, but Toyota's recent recalls have significantly decreased demand for its vehicles. The 2010 Toyota RAV4 comes in a base model, performance-oriented Sport and top-of-the-line Limited.
The "Toyota RAV4" is a small sport-utility vehicle, the smallest of Toyota's large family of SUVs.
The current Toyota RAV4 comes in Base, Sport and Limited trims, with either a four-cylinder or a V6 engine, and either front-wheel drive or an on-road-biased all-wheel-drive system. Today's Toyota RAV4 is close to Toyota's midsize Highlander in length and actually has a more powerful V6. The 179-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder provides surprisingly good acceleration and excellent fuel economy. With 269 hp, a RAV4 equipped with the available 3.5-liter V6 is quite fast and the most fuel-efficient six-cylinder SUV in its class. Even in Base trim, the Toyota RAV4 is well equipped with power accessories, cruise control and a full suite of safety features, including stability control. In terms of the space, the Toyota RAV4 is cavernous, boasting more cargo room than some midsize SUVs.
The current Toyota RAV4 represents the third generation, which debuted for 2006. The second-generation Toyota RAV4 (2001-'05) was larger, with more expressive styling and innovative removable second-row seats that gave it truly impressive cargo-carrying capabilities. Early models had a 148-hp, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that came up short versus the larger four- and six-cylinder engines offered by competitors. Overall, we found this Toyota RAV4 to be a fun-to-drive urban runabout thanks to its precise suspension tuning and high fuel economy ratings.

2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser review

The 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser is a midsize SUV technically with four doors. The front doors are standard-sized, but the rear doors are smaller and are reverse opening. Options include a Convenience package that offers keyless entry, power side mirrors, cruise control, rear privacy glass, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a rearview camera. The All Terrain package includes special 16-inch alloy wheels, all-terrain tires, performance shock absorbers and a locking rear differential.
FJs with manual transmissions are only available with a full-time 4WD system; models with automatic transmissions come with either two-wheel drive or a part-time 4WD system.
Standard safety features include stability control, traction control, antilock disc brakes, front-seat side airbags and rollover-sensing side curtain airbags. In government crash tests, the Toyota FJ Cruiser earned a top five-star rating for driver safety in head-on collisions, while front passenger protection rated four stars. In side-impact testing, front and rear passenger protection received five stars. For more Safety information, Front visibility is also less than optimal, thanks to the FJ's high hood line. For more Interior Features information,
The 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser is in its element off-road. The FJ's boxy lines result in noticeable wind noise on the highway, though. Notably, the FJ no longer requires premium fuel either.
The 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser Affordable Midsize SUVs. The eye-catching Toyota FJ Cruiser continues to impress reviewers with its unique, retro-inspired styling and solid off-road performance. The FJ's overall value makes it our 2010 Best Off-Road SUV for the Money.
While these changes will improve performance, they won't remedy the Toyota FJ Cruiser's other weak points -- a cramped rear seat, poor visibility and substandard cabin materials. "FJ pays a price for its exaggerated styling and off-road-biased engineering," writes Consumer Guide.
If you're interested in an FJ Cruiser, the improved fuel economy may make the new 2010 model worth your while. Be sure to check for current Toyota deals that may be available on a new Toyota FJ Cruiser.

Toyota has announced another recall involving more than one million cars.
The recall could affect second hand users of these models here in Ghana.
This is because most of the home use Toyota Matrix and Corolla vehicles on the local market are from the US.
Henry Sackey, transport engineer with Dates Limited told Joy Business it is difficult to quantify the total number of such vehicles on the Ghanaian market.

Toyota Corola recall?

Toyota Corola recall
The automaker says it will recall 1 million 2005 to 2008 model year vehicles to address a problem with an electronic component that can cause the cars to stall. The recall also affects 200,000 Pontiac Vibe models.
"Toyota has recalled more than 1 million of its Corolla and Matrix cars, just days after U.S. auto safety regulators stepped up a probe into the risk that the vehicles could stall because of defective electronic engine control units. The recall also affects 200,000 Pontiac Vibe models built by a joint venture between General Motors Co. and Toyota".
Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. said Thursday that the recall of the 2005 to 2008 model year vehicles sold in North America was to address a problem with an electronic component called an engine control module that might have been improperly manufactured. No other Toyota or Lexus vehicles are involved in this recall.
Toyota has known about the engine problem since 2005, when it issued dealers a notice — called a technical service bulletin — that explained how to fix it. "We have known about the fact that there have been complaints of stalling engines," Toyota spokesman John Hanson said. Before the recall, if a customer complained about the issue the dealer would be expected to make a repair during the warranty period and charge the expense to the automaker. Toyota plans to replace the module on all of the recalled vehicles at no charge to owners. It will mail notice of the recall to owners starting in mid-September. Car owners with questions can go to http://www.toyota.com/recall or call Toyota at (800) 331-4331.
The Vibe was designed and engineered by Toyota, GM said.
Toyota's announcement today that it will, indeed, recall 1.1 million Corollas and Matrixes for computer glitches that can cause them to stall in traffic marks the 15th Toyota or Lexus recall so far this year, Toyota says.
