Chrysler Group is recalling 150,000 vehicles

A 2011 Dodge RAM 1500 pickup truck poses at the Planet Dodge Chrysler Jeep dealership in Doral, Fla. in this August file photo. Parent company Chrysler is recalling nearly 150,000 trucks and SUVs to address several problems, including steering, air bag issues and a growling rear axle.

Chrysler has announced that it's recalling over 121,000 vehicles in two separate actions. Additionally, the carmaker is also recalling 65,180 Dodge Journey crossovers from the 2009 model year due to faulty wiring. Both recalls are expected to begin in February and Chrysler will repair the axles in Ram 1500 models and replace the both front door wiring harnesses in Dodge Journey models free of charge as necessary.

Here’s the full list of vehicles being recalled. Chrysler Group is recalling 150,000 vehicles, including 22,000 2008-2011 Dodge Ram trucks with steering problems; 65,000 Dodge Journey SUVs with side air bags that may not discharge; and 57,000 2011 Dodge 1500 trucks which may stall due to faulty components in the rear axles. For their part, Ford is recalling 15,000 Ford F-series pickup trucks from 2011 (including the F150, F250, F350, F450, and F550) and some 2011 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX crossovers due to electrical problems that may result in fires.

2011 dodge nitro reviews

Despite its tough name, the 2011 Dodge Nitro is surprisingly wimpy.
Engine: standard engine is 3.7-liter, 210 horsepower V6; 4.0-liter, 260-horsepower V6 optional with Nitro SXT

Acceleration: the standard Nitro has a current 0-60 time of 9.5 seconds, while the rear-wheel-drive 4.0-liter Nitro has a 0-60 time of 7.7 seconds. For 2011, Dodge may up the power of the Nitro, resulting in more competitive acceleration.

Suspension: the live-axle rear suspension on the current Dodge Nitro has received substantial criticism, so changes may be in store for 2011 to give the Nitro a smoother, less trucky ride
The 2011 Dodge Nitro will never be mistaken for a high-performance vehicle. The 2011 Dodge Nitro gives car buyers on budgets a decent option; after all, the base model has a starting price of around $22,000. With so many features-packed crossover SUVs on the market today, the 2011 Dodge Nitro is a tough sell.

The "2011 Dodge Nitro" ranks 23 out of 24 Affordable Compact SUVs. Car reviewers love the 2011 Dodge Nitro’s styling, but they find little else to like about the pugnacious little SUV.
Most affordable compact SUVs are starting to look alike – but not the 2011 Dodge Nitro. The Honda Element has boxy styling, a lower starting price and better fuel economy than the Nitro--For 2011 the Dodge Nitro is little-changed, with the exception of trim names.

rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive are available, as are two engines – a 3.7-liter V6 and a 4.0-liter V6. Until Chrysler official press photos of the new 2011 Dodge Nitro version, we can not really say much about what’s in store for the small SUV.

2011 Dodge Nitro will never be mistaken for a high performance vehicle. There are two parts to the experience of being at the heart of the Dodge Nitro 2011. Dodge Nitro 2011 gives car buyers on budgets a decent option, after all, the basic model has a starting price of about $ 22,000. 2011 Dodge Caliber Reviews

The interior tops the list of owner positives in the 2011 Dodge Caliber, and sadly it’s a very short list.
Weak, harsh engines, clunky and unresponsive transmissions and an overall lack of visibility severely hamper the overall experience of the 2011 Caliber.

It’s the base-level Express trim that really gets the shaft this year, missing out on the electronic steering system revisions as well as newly standard stability control. Heat and Rush trim levels also get thicker rear anti-roll bars as well as retuned shocks. All but the Rush get a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder standard engine, with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder being optional in the Uptown and Standard in the Rush. The Express trim gets a five-speed manual as the only option, while Heat and Rush trims get the option of a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that comes standard in the Mainstreet and Uptown trims.

Body lean is combated well in the Caliber, with confident stability exhibited in smooth corners--Sadly, road noise, wheel noise and especially engine noise disrupt all of this, intruding violently into the cabin.
It has been three years since the initial launching of the Caliber model in the market. Moving over to the engine power, the "2011 Dodge Caliber" is built with a 1.8-liter engine for its base that is coupled with a five-speed manual transmission system as the base option. Pro’s of 2011 Dodge Caliber
2011 Caliber comes with decent fuel economy rating;
-It has a full range of interior features;
-Adaptive driving mechanism to suit any driving situation;
-Dodge 2011 Caliber has met and complied all safety regulations while also earning impressive score on all crash tests.
The 2011 Dodge Caliber is available in trims: Express, Heat, Mainstreet, Uptown, and Rush.

For a crossover/hatchback, the 2011 Dodge Caliber receives excellent fuel economy ratings of 22-24 mpg in the city and 27-32 mpg on the highway. Competing with Toyota Matrix, the 2011 Dodge Caliber sits on standard 15-inch steel wheels, while 17-inch painted aluminum and 18-inch aluminum or chrome-clad wheels are optional.

The 2011 Dodge Caliber seats five occupants in standard cloth or optional leather-trimmed seats.

Other features vary by trim level, and include keyless entry, iPod controls, an audio input jack for mobile devices, leather-trimmed seats, beverage-cooling bin, six-way power driver’s seat, and satellite radio. A voice-activated navigation and audio system (Uconnect), sunroof, heated front seats, and a six-disc CD changer are also available as options.

The New Dogde Viper bringing back for the 2013 model year

A concept version of the next American supercar was shown in September in Orlando, Fla., by Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne to a convention center filled with thousands of people—most of them notoriously talkative car dealers. A common theme emerged: The Dogde Viper had a distinct Italian theme with an unmistakable American presence. The car shown in Orlando was painted bright red and had flashy lights, perhaps LEDs. One source compared it to the 1998 Viper. The "Dogde Viper" factory in Detroit, dubbed the “Snake Pit,” was the new company's first plant to reopen.

Powertrain specifics remain unknown, but a V10 has always been the Viper's signature feature. As Chris Marshall, president of the Dogde Viper Club of America, put it: “The main concern for the true Dogde Viper purists is the big-displacement engine.”

Dogde Viper Nation can rest with some assurance that a new snake is poised to strike in 2012.

"Dodge is bringing back the Dogde Viper for the 2013 model year. In the Detroit News interview Gilles implies the next-generation Viper will be more civilized than the outgoing model, which as every enthusiast knows, has a reputation for raw, brute force". The original Viper debuted 18 years ago with side exhausts and side curtains in place of modern roll-up windows. The outgoing 2010 Viper -- production ended in July -- has a base price of $90,255. New 2012 Hyundai sedan caught on video

Reviving the Dogde Viper is important for preserving Dodge's status in the high-end sports car segment and clarifying Dodge's identity as Chrysler's performance brand. With a sticker price of $90,000-plus, Viper was the ultimate "halo" car. A Dogde Viper comeback was always under consideration, according to Chrysler's November 2009 product plan. "We're extremely excited that our ultimate American sports car and icon of the Dodge brand will continue to live on," said Ralph Gilles, Dodge president and CEO.

Fiat engineers will have a significant role in the new DogdeViper, the Chrysler official familiar with the planning said.

2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392

2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392
There was good story about this 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392.  Dodge Challenger hit the scene in 2008, it was apparent that Chrysler had taken a different tack with its retro muscle car than Ford or Chevrolet. Larger, heavier and more comfortable than either the resurrected Camaro or rebodied Mustang, the Challenger was more grand tourer than a red light terror. But with the Pentastar's resurrection comes two new powerplants, both of which make an already solid package even more appealing for those seeking style seasoned with a healthy dose of all-American get-up-and-go.

Along with a suspension that's been spit-polished to provide more feedback and better dynamics, Mopar engineers have plopped a new 3.6-liter V6 and 6.4-liter V8 under the long, squared-off hood of the 2011 Challenger to create the new base SE and top-shelf SRT8 392 models. With the rev-happy six cylinder begging to be flogged and the new V8's voracious appetite for asphalt, both engines drastically alter the big daddy muscle bruiser's personality while offering better fuel economy than their 2010 predecessors. If you've been able to resist plopping yourself behind the wheel of a Challenger so far, your self-control may have finally met its match.

2011 Dodge Journey minimal exterior changes

The 2011 Dodge Journey rolled out on Wednesday, with minimal exterior changes, a new interior, a redesigned suspension and a new 3.6-liter V6.

The base 2010 Dodge Journey SE starts at $21,165, including a $675 destination charge.
Dodge says the Journey's suspension received a "major overhaul." A new 283-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 mated to a six-speed automatic transmission replaces the outgoing 235-hp 3.5-liter V6. The 2011 Dodge Journey gets a major cabin makeover, including a redesigned instrument panel.

In concert with a vast upgrading across the Chrysler portfolio of vehicles, the 2011 Dodge Journey is receiving a significant refresh, Chrysler said Wednesday.

The 2011 Dodge Journey will be built at Chrysler's Toluca Assembly Plant in Toluca, Mexico. Dodge continues to unleash new products to the market; today, introducing the new 2011 Dodge Journey, its mid-size crossover with "right sized" proportions, five- or seven-passenger seating, innovative storage solutions, abundant safety and security features, all-wheel-drive capability and models packaged for a variety of lifestyles.

The Dodge Journey receives a major overhaul with a completely redesigned and retuned suspension, a new V-6 engine and a gorgeous new interior. Owners will feel like they have the world at their fingertips with the Journey's available touch-screen command center, Uconnect Touch.
From navigation to dual-zone climate controls to the ability to check fuel prices, the all-new Uconnect Touch media center makes life in the new 2011 Dodge Journey an excellent adventure for the driver and passengers. The “2011 Dodge Journey” is nimble, composed and handles well in all driving and road conditions. There's also a larger front storage bin with side nets. The new multi-functioning three-spoke Dodge brand steering wheel with integrated controls and a wider, longer, soft-touch armrest transform the driver's seat into a cockpit-like experience. The Dodge Journey offers six new interior color and trims to complete the makeover.

On the outside, Journey maintains its sculpted, clean, aggressive lines, and adds a new front fascia that sports the signature Dodge Brand "split crosshair" honeycomb grille. Journey also is loaded with an abundance of safety and security features, including: standard advanced multi-stage front passenger air bags, active head restraints, electronic stability control (ESC) with all-speed traction control, electronic roll mitigation and brake assist, new driver-side knee blocker air bag, supplemental side-curtain air bags covering all three rows, supplemental front-seat-mounted side air bags, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, LATCH child seat anchor system and trailer sway control.

The Dodge Journey is built in at Chrysler Group LLC's Toluca Assembly Plant in Toluca, Mexico.
The crossover will debut the next generation of Chrysler's Uconnect connectivity system.
An 8.4-inch touch screen is the command center for the new Uconnect Touch that customizes everything from navigation and portable devices to climate controls and audio commands.
Like Ford Motor Co.'s MyFord Touch Sync system, Uconnect works with a smartphone as opposed to General Motors Co.'s OnStar, which is embedded in the car.
For a smoother ride, Chrysler re-engineered the suspension and steering and added premium tires for the 19-inch wheels.

2010 Dodge Viper Review

The 2010 Dodge Viper. Engineered for folks who care more about mind-numbing sports performance than comfort and luxury, the 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 offers no compromises. Automobile Magazine explains, "The Dodge Viper has always been a raw sports car with very few frivolities." The 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10's lack of convenience and safety features is proof of that.
If power, speed and handling are what you're all about, then the 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 is the car for you.
The "Dodge Viper" was conceived as a modern interpretation of the classic muscular American sports car.
Minor concessions to "luxury" appeared in the second-generation Viper roadster, such as real windows that replaced the clear vinyl side curtains, but Viper fans had nothing to fear, as Dodge's top-dog sports car remained obnoxiously loud and fast. The second-generation Dodge Viper saw the SRT-10 roadster become a true convertible with a folding top. The Viper SRT-10 coupe returned a few years later featuring the previous coupe's "double bubble" roof and dramatic rear styling. Current Dodge Viper
The Dodge Viper is offered as a two-seat coupe or roadster. Performance numbers are otherworldly, as the Viper can reach 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. Though modern cars are increasingly equipped with the latest safety features, the Viper remains true to its visceral roots. Fresh off the showroom floor, the Dodge Viper is one of the fastest production cars in the world. Used Dodge Viper Models
The current second-generation Dodge Viper has been available since 2003. The original Dodge Viper debuted for the 1992 model year. In 1999 the Viper received bigger wheels, optional Connolly leather inside, power mirrors and a remote release for the coupe's glass hatch. A track-biased Viper ACR trim level also became available that year.

2010 Dodge Nitro Review

The 2010 Dodge Nitro Affordable Compact SUVs. The Dodge Nitro stands out for its aggressive styling, class-leading 5,000-pound towing capacity and functional cargo space but it ultimately can't match the performance or interior quality of its competitors.

The Nitro's price is about average for the class.
The Dodge Nitro comes in two trims -- the base SXT and the SLT. There's speculation that Dodge may discontinue the Nitro after the 2010 model.

"The...Dodge Nitro R/T 4X4 shovels a good cabin tech package into a vehicle that delivers mediocre performance and economy." -- Automobile Magazine

In the past, test drivers have complained about the Dodge Nitro's rough ride and handling. A huge plus is the Nitro's 5,000-pound towing capacity, which bests every one of its competitors.

When it comes to quality, the "Dodge Nitro's interior" is viewed by most as just adequate.

Almost all of the safety features on the Dodge Nitro come as standard equipment. The 2010 Nitro does well in most federal government crash tests, but falls short in insurance industry testing.

The Detonator and Shock trim features a more powerful 260-hp 4.0-liter V6 engine mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. Nitro's Heat trim offers standard amenities such as power mirrors, windows and door locks with remote keyless entry, satellite radio, air conditioning and seating for five. The Shock adds heated front seat, leather trim interior, and power sunroof. Standard safety features include: front airbags, side curtain airbags, active head restraints, traction and stability control with roll-over mitigation, brake assist, and a tire-pressure monitor.

For 2010, the Dodge Nitro has three new model designations: Heat, Detonator, and Shock.

2010 Dodge Journey review

The 2010 Dodge Journey ranks 20 out of 23 Affordable Midsize SUVs. Reviewers generally agree that the Journey is pleasant and roomy. "Overall, the 2010 Dodge Journey has a split personality,” explains Edmunds. It costs just over $1,000 more than the Journey and also offers an optional third-row seat. The RAV4's pricing actually comes out lower than the Journey's once you add a third row to both vehicles. That’s because the Journey’s third row requires upgrading to a higher trim, while the RAV4’s base model is already available with a third row. The RAV4 has a leg up in fuel economy too, with a higher base rating of 22/28 mpg city/highway. It starts at about $8,000 more than the Journey but comes standard with a third-row seat. The only real downsides are its higher price and lower 17/24 mpg base fuel economy rating.

A midsize crossover SUV, the "2010 Dodge Journey" comes in SE, SXT and R/T trim levels. All models come standard with two-row seating for five; with the optional 50/50-split-folding third-row bench (SXT and R/T only), capacity increases to seven.

The midgrade SXT adds 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlamps, heated side mirrors, a trip computer, enhanced interior storage, stain-resistant cloth upholstery, a six-way power driver seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a 115-volt power outlet and satellite radio. The top-drawer R/T features 19-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, heated front seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated audio controls.

"Dodge bundles most of the Journey's optional features into packages, and many of the upper trim levels' features are available as options for the lower trims. Other major options, depending on the trim level, include a Chrome Appearance package, sport-tuned suspension and steering, Bluetooth, an iPod adapter, tri-zone climate control, a rear-seat entertainment system and a hard-drive-based navigation and audio system with a back-up camera".

The base-model Journey SE comes with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 173 horsepower and 166 pound-feet of torque. It drives the front wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. In our testing, an all-wheel-drive R/T model went from zero to 60 mph in an unremarkable 9.2 seconds -- just as slow as competing four-cylinder models.

The EPA gives the four-cylinder Journey ratings of 19 mpg city/25 mpg highway and 21 mpg combined. The front-drive V6 drops to 16/24/19, and adding AWD yields a 15/23/18 rating.

Every 2010 Journey includes antilock disc brakes, traction control, rollover-sensing stability control, active front head restraints, front-seat side airbags and side curtain

Dodge Magnum

The Dodge Magnum welcomed us to the American station wagon, Version 2.0. The "Dodge Magnum" was intended to prove that the wagon could be cool again.
Sadly, Wagon Version 2.0 lived a short life.

Most Recent Dodge Magnum
The Dodge Magnum was sold from 2005-'08. When last sighted at Dodge dealerships, the Magnum was available in four trim levels -- SE, SXT, R/T and SRT8 -- which provided increasing levels of standard equipment and performance features. For power, the Magnum SE was equipped with a 200-horsepower V6.

Most Magnums were rear-wheel drive, but Dodge offered all-wheel-drive (AWD) versions of the SXT and RT. In reviews of the Dodge Magnum, our editors praised the vehicle's roomy and comfortable interior, useful cargo area and inspiring performance. When the Magnum debuted for the 2005 model year, the RWD SXT model had a four-speed automatic transmission, but it was upgraded to a five-speed unit later in 2006 (AWD SXTs always had a five-speed).

2012 Dodge Charger

what you are looking at are spy shots of the new 2012 dodge.

Among the news from today's New New Chrysler briefing was this slide of the 2012 Dodge Charger. Look familiar? There's a reason...

This image reveals a sloping belt line and strong curve building from the front to the shoulders, reminiscent of the 1999 Dodge RT Charger Concept (below) it seems to borrow heavily from. We're also told the new Charger initially had rear door handles in the roof line rather than the door panel — giving it a two-door look — but this was eventually dropped.

Ralph Gilles, the Dodge brand's new boss, laid an Easter egg hunt on the assembled dealers, bankers and journalists. What you see above is a shot of the 2012 Dodge Charger that appeared briefly on the screen during Gilles' talk.

Gilles provided no details on the upcoming full-size rear-drive sedan, but it's obvious from the photo above that the next Charger will be a more expressive, sculpted design that draws inspiration from its historic namesake. Of course, the Charger will still be a four-door, but the sharp-edged line, rising from the front door to the tip of he rear is, well, Charger-esque. Only that it's an update of the existing LX platform that, if we remember correctly, Sergio Marchionne said cost so much to create that it would "shock your pants off." The new Pentastar 3.6-liter engine, which debuts in the new Jeep Grand Cherokee in the middle of next year, will be the volume engine, with a Hemi V8 as the upgrade

2011 dodge charger interior new charger shares the lx platform of the chrysler 300 and dodge magnum in fact,

This is the first shot inside the cabin of the 2011 Dodge Charger. Thankfully, Chrysler's designers didn't go too far overboard with the revamp as it all looks like pretty tasteful stuff.

2011 dodge charger rumor has it that dodge s new ceo ralph gilles had a large part in this car s overall design, and interior refinement

This prototype was also missing the small piece of camouflage that concealed the C-pillar in previous photos. As you can see after the jump, this Charger will have a slightly different profile than the current model, more like the concept that appeared -- and then disappeared - so many years ago.

2011 dodge charger's interior, complete with what's likely an imported 8-speed zf automatic edmunds says otherwise

With its official reveal now just a few months away, our spy photographers have spotted the all-new Dodge Charger with much less camouflage. Expected to hit the market later this year as a 2011 model, the redesigned Dodge Charger was previewed recently during Chrysler’s five-year product plan announcement. Based on the teaser image released by the automaker and information we’ve gleaned from insiders, our artist put together two exclusive illustrations of the car – which seem to be backed up by the spy photos shot earlier today.

With a sweeping character line reminiscent of the 1999 Dodge Charger Concept, the car is expected to combine qualities of the present retro model with the more modern show car that preceded it.

Dodge brand chief Ralph Gilles said the car will feature a “class-leading” interior to match the dramatic new exterior, and our spy shots seem to back Gilles’ statement — although the Charger’s interior isn’t quite as dramatic as its exterior styling. It remains unknown if the 2011 Charger will launch with the current car’s five-speed transmission, but our latest shots seem to indicate a new eight-speed unit will be available from launch

2010 Dodge Challenger Review

2010 dodge challenger standard features power door locks dodge road test reviews
review 2010 dodge challenger everything you ever wanted to know about the 2010 dodge reviews & ratings expert reviews video reviews consumer.

The 2010 Challenger benefits from the big Hemi, the W5A580 five-speed automatic transmission with AutoStick manual override and an excellent suspension system

The 2010 Dodge Challenger should see no major changes. The retro-styled Challenger is rear-wheel drive; entry-level SE and mid-line R/T trim levels should continue alongside the flagship SRT8.

Challenger's unmistakable profile, coupled with outstanding comfort, cuts through the monotony on the road.

The Challenger SRT8 has similar design cues to the Charger SRT8. However, unlike the Charger sedan, the Challenger was actually designed after the 1970 model

Since the Challenger is based on the Charger, the Challenger does have similar dimension to the Charger: it is 197.7 inches long and 75.7 inches wide, longer and wider than the Mustang's 187.6-inch length and 73.9-inch width.

The 2010 Challenger also has contemporary aerodynamics

Compared to the Charger, the specific tuning of the Challenger's chassis is softer.Dodge claims Challenger SRT8 will do 0-60 mph in around 5 seconds. Accurate steering is marred by excessive power assist.

Body lean in fast turns is well controlled, and the brakes provide sure-footed stopping control. Challenger's ride is surprisingly supple, especially given this car's performance mission.

The Challenger carries the 6.1-liter Hemi V8 - a bored-out version of the standard 5.7-liter motor.

In manual versions, the shifter features a unique pistol-grip"design. The SRT8 has exclusive leather sport seats with accent stitching and embroidered SRT8 logos. Everything inside--seats, carpet, trim--is dark.

The return of the Dodge Challenger has been long awaited for many muscle car enthusiasts. It has modern safety features, such as ABS, traction control, antiskid system, and curtain side airbags. Other features on the 2010 Challenger include a keyless engine start, Chrysler's uconnect multimedia suite, and a navigation system. The Challenger drives with thrill and the roar.
