2011 Ford Escape Reviews

The 2011 Ford Escape ranks 19 out of 24 Affordable Compact SUVs. The Ford Escape lead the compact SUV segment back when it was first introduced in 2001. Ford has added HD Radio this year and this feature compliments the much loved SYNC entertainment system, programmable MyKey and active park assist, a system which allows the Escape to parallel park itself with very little driver involvement.

Consumers looking at the 2011 Ford Escape should be sure to check out competitors compact SUVs. The Escape, however, does start almost $600 cheaper.

The 2011 Ford Escape offers all but one new feature over the 2010 model: HD Radio. The 2011 Ford Escape is available in three trims -- the base XLS, XLT and top-of-the-line Limited. The Escape also comes in a hybrid version, which is reviewed separately and costs $9,000 more than the gas-only Escape.
Options available on the 2011 Escape include Ford’s SYNC in-car entertainment system, active park assist which can parallel park the car with little driver involvement and MyKey, a programmable key which can set a speed limit on your Escape among other things.

The 2011 Ford Escape adds HD Radio capability for receiving higher-sound-quality broadcast programming where it’s available. Should you buy a 2011 Ford Escape or wait for the 2012 Ford Escape? No question -- hold out for the 2012 Ford Escape. There are no changes to the 2011 Ford Escape’s old-school styling. Interestingly, the 2001 Escape was one of the very first crossover SUVs. The 2011 Ford Escape comes in base XLS, midline XLT, and top-level Limited trim.
The 2011 Ford Escape repeats with a choice of two gas engines and a gas-electric hybrid powertrain. All versions are available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive (AWD). The base front-drive XLS model comes with a five-speed manual transmission. The 2011 Escape Hybrid again combines the four-cylinder engine with an electric motor for 177 total horsepower. The 2011 Escape Hybrid uses a continuously variable transmission (CVT). With the four-cylinder engines, Escapes can tow trailers weighing up to 1,500 pounds. Hybrid Escapes are rated to tow 1,000 pounds.

Escape feels old on the road and dated inside. Also available is Ford’s MyKey system.
The Ford Escape has been a staple in Ford’s SUV line-up for over a decade.

During test drives, the 2011 Ford Escape handled much as it always has. The "2011 Ford Escape" comes with a choice of engines. With one of the Hybrid Escape models, you will enjoy the four-cylinder engine combined with an electric motor for a total rating of 177 Horsepower.

With the traditional Escape models, a five-speed manual transmission is included with front-drive models, while the V-6 engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
If you like the handling and features of the older Escape models, you will be pleased with this one.

Other vehicles have advanced upon the features that the Escape once had. Nevertheless, the 2011 Ford Escape is better than many other vehicles in its class.

"Racing can serve as a technical proving ground for production cars," said Jamie Allison, director, Ford Racing. Boss 302 Racer

This limited production vehicle is positioned between the Boss 302 Laguna Seca and the Boss 302R Grand-Am racer.

Ford has been unusually un-forthcoming about the new 2102 BOSS302S track version of the BOSS 302. Much akin to the Mustang Challenge FR-500S race cars, the BOSS 302R is a non-street legal bare bones racer that is one step below the Grand-Am spec BOSS 302R.

Like the FR-500 series cars, the BOSS 302S will be available “over the counter” from your local Ford Racing Dealer. The car will be built at the Flat Rock assembly plant along side the other BOSS 302s but will have a lighter body structure lacking sealers, glues, and sound deadening.

Following the Mustang Boss 302R track car, and the road-going Mustang Boss 302, now comes the Boss 302S racer. This multi-purpose race car has been developed by Ford Racing to provide enthusiasts with an affordable way to road race. BOSS 302S aerodynamic updates include a unique fiberglass heat extracting hood, adjustable front splitter and adjustable carbon fiber rear wing. A “retro” styled BOSS 302 graphics package is included with each car and mimics the graphics from the original 1969 BOSS 302 program

2012 Ford Focus production in Germany until early 2012

Ford Motor Co. continues the global rollout of the new Ford Focus with production for Europe starting today.
The compact car, as a sedan and five-door hatchback, has already begun early production for North America at Ford's Michigan Assembly Plant.
Western European markets will source their cars from Ford's Saarlouis Assembly Plant in Germany, which will make the sedan, hatch and wagon. "Saarlouis is proud to have been the lead plant for Ford Focus production in Europe since the first model was launched in 1998."
Ford has sold more than 10 million Ford Focuses globally.
The punchy Focus ST variant won't enter production in Germany until early 2012, however.

The final piece in Ford's global puzzle for the Focus will be production at new plants in Chongqing, China, and Rayong, Thailand. That will complete the five-plant, three-continent, 120-market roll-out of the Focus, making it one of the most truly "global" cars on the market.

Though the standard Focus sedan and hatch will no doubt be interesting cars, we're waiting for the hot-hatch ST, so we still have a long year's wait ahead of us.
It's about time for the new global 2012 Ford Focus to hit the streets, and Germany has entered production to fill European demand.
The Saarlouis plant in the southwest German region of Saarland will build the Focus sedan, hatchback (ST hot hatch joins the line in early 2012), and wagon exclusively for the European market. To help reach those numbers, Ford extended permanent offers to 500 temporary contract workers.

"This is an important day for Ford, the Saarland and for Germany," said Ken Macfarlane, Ford of Europe's VP of manufacturing. Saarlouis, also home to the Kuga, joins Ford's Michigan Assembly Plant located in Wayne as the current hubs for the 2012 Ford Focus.
Production of the" 2012 Ford Focus" has started in Germany ahead of the vehicle’s showroom debut early next year.
Ford invested 300 million euros ($403 million) in modernising the Saarlouis Assembly Plant for Focus production, and the project has created 500 new jobs. The plant also manufacturers the Ford Kuga compact SUV.
Early production of the Focus sedan and hatch has also commenced at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant.
Australian Focus models will initially be sourced from the Saarlouis plant. Built on Ford’s global C-segment platform, the Focus will make up a large proportion of the two-million-plus C-segment vehicles produced annually by Ford by 2012.

2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 ‎ - faster with special TracKey ‎

On August 13, the Boss was out the bag when Ford announced the new Boss 302 Mustang for 2012.

With the introduction of the '11 Mustang GT and its new 412hp 5.0-liter engine-conveniently displacing Boss 302 cubic inches-the time was right to bring back the Boss.

"We weren't going to let Boss become a sticker and wheel package," said Mustang chief engineer Dave Pericak. Like the original '69-'70 Boss 302s, the new version has unique engine components, for both 440 hp and high-rpm durability, and a suspension that transforms the car into the "best handling Mustang ever," a description that Car & Driver gave the '69 Boss 302. The '12 Boss 302's front splitter and rear spoiler are decidedly modern.

Reportedly, the '12 Boss 302 will be available in early 2011.
Just as the '11 GT's new 5.0-liter provided the 302 cubic inches for bringing back the Boss name, the new four-valve engine also gave engine engineers a great 412hp platform to build on. Although realizing that supercharging would be the easiest way to add more power for a Boss model, the 5.0-liter engineers assigned to the Boss project decided early on to stay true to the original Boss 302 by sticking with a naturally-aspirated engine. They even enlisted help from two members of the '69 Boss 302 design team.

The original Boss 302 engine built its reputation on its ability to breathe via large-port, large-valve Cleveland cylinder heads. For the '12 Boss 302, engineers also looked to improve breathing, this time with a new intake manifold and aluminum heads with CNC-machined ports and chambers.

The second, red “TracKey” however, takes the Mustang and turns it into a fully fledged, competition-ready track car.
The TracKey system is a joint project between Ford Racing and Mustang engineers and according to the public relations people is the result of a good old-fashioned, all-night garage brainstorming session.

Mustang powertrain engineer, Jeff Seaman, said the team had done “just about everything possible” to give TracKey customers the full race car experience.

The TracKey-equipped 2012 Mustang Boss 302 will be available through Ford Racing dealers in the US, with official pricing and launch details to be announced at a later date.

Ford says the idea behind the TracKey, an ignition key that alters the engine management system in the 2012 Mustang Boss 302 to turn it into a street-illegal racecar, came during an all-night brainstorming session between Mustang team members. The TracKey, introduced this week, looks like a normal ignition key for the coming "Mustang Boss 302", except there’s a bit of red in the middle. The Mustang Boss 302 is already a beast of a car, with 444 horsepower. In TracKey mode, it becomes a track-ready racecar, with higher low-end torque and two-stage launch control.
Throttle limiting and torque management — any daily driveability enhancements are removed and replaced with a pure Ford Racing competition calibration.”
Ford did not reveal pricing on the TracKey.

2011 Ford F-150 Review

The 2011 Ford F-150 is the best pickup for you if you want to pioneer a new breed of truck engine.

The 2011 Ford F-150 is almost certain to feature two – maybe three -- new engines. Styling: Any 2011 Ford F-150 styling alterations would take a backseat to big changes under the hood. It debuted for model-year 2010 in several Ford/Lincoln products, notably the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO and 2010 Lincoln MKS sedans and 2010 Ford Flex crossover SUV. Ford maintains the EcoBoost V-6 is suitable for moderately heavy towing duty, too. The base choice would be Ford’s new dual-overhead-cam 5.0-liter V-8. Dubbed “Coyote,” this naturally aspirated engine is also slated for duty in the Ford Mustang. Some reports suggest the 2011 F-150 may also become available with Ford’s new 6.2-liter V-8. The available voice-activated navigation system can display real-time weather maps and localized fuel prices.

Expect 2011 F-150 pricing to begin around $22,000 for the entry-level LX regular-cab model. For example, Ford imbued every 2010 F-150 with mileage-enhancing tweaks previously reserved for a special SFE (Super Fuel Economy) model. EPA fuel-economy estimates for 2011 models had not been released in time for this review, but expect 2011 Ford F-150 fuel economy to equal and in some cases beat the 2010 F-150 numbers.

No word on whether Ford would recommend or require 2011 F-150 EcoBoost owners to use higher-priced premium-grade gas. The focus of fuel economy doesn’t mean ignoring high performance. Dodge Ram 1500: Like the F-150, Dodge’s half-ton Ram was all-new for model-year 2009. No major changes are expected until after model-year 2013.

A model-year 2010 freshening included introduction of a fine new 310-horsepwer V-8 to compliment the top-line 381-horsepower engine, but don’t look for major changes before model-year 2014 or so.

Every model comes with the AdvanceTrac Electronic Stability Control as well as side curtain airbags in the front, rear row, front row, and torso sides of the truck. Detailed crash tests results include five stars for frontal driver; five stars for frontal passenger; five stars for side driver; five stars for side rear passenger; four stars for a two wheel drive rollover; and three stars for a four wheel drive rollover.

In 2009 it took home Motor Trend Truck of the Year; Best Redesigned Vehicle; Truck of Texas; Best Luxury Pickup; Best Overall Half ton Pickup; Automotive Excellence; the Residual Value Award from the Automotive Leasing Guide; Motor Trend’s Truck Trend Top Five Trucks; and the Accessory Friendly Truck Design Award.

History of the Ford Granada

History of the Granada
The 'rounded shape' Ford Granada, with its flush-fitting glass, made its debut in 1985, a large five-door car with a huge interior. Initially, the engine line-up was unremarkable; underpowered 1.8 and 2.0-litre four cylinder units; 2.4 and 2.9-litre V6s. Plus a nasty, noisy 2.5-litre diesel. The 1.8 and 2.4-litre variants didn't last long fortunately, and the carburettor 2.0-litre gave way to a fuel-injected engine of similar size in 1990, when a saloon was also added to the line-up.

Used Ford Granada for sale
Avoid 1.8-litre and early 2.0-litre petrol cars and the normally aspirated diesel. Look out for ex-police cars and ex-taxis.

Ford Granada Typical Pricing
A 2.5-litre turbo diesel from 1994 will be in the region of £1,000 and the last of the thirsty 2.9-litre petrol engined models cost around £1,400 on a 1995 M-plate. Ford Granada Parts
Looking for a big car on a small budget? Ford's Granada offers a lot of car for the money - no question. The Ford Granada was replaced by the questionably styled Scorpio.

The 'rounded shape' Granada, with its flush-fitting glass, made its debut in 1985, a large five-door car with a huge interior. Initially, the engine line-up was unremarkable; underpowered 1.8 and 2.0-litre four cylinder units; 2.4 and 2.9-litre V6s. Plus a nasty, noisy 2.5-litre diesel. There was also a 4x4 option on 2.9-litre models, which lasted between 1987 and 1990. A rather dowdy image but a lot of car. The major drawback is the fuel consumption and high insurance premiums.

Prices for a 1993 K-plate 2.0-litre LX start at £600, while a 1994 M-plate Executive Estate with the same engine will be £900. A 2.5-litre turbo diesel from 1994 will be in the region of £1,000 and the last of the thirsty 2.9-litre petrol engined models cost around £1,400 on a 1995 M-plate.

Avoid 1.8-litre and early 2.0-litre petrol cars and the normally aspirated diesel. Look out for ex-police cars and ex-taxis. Steer clear of high mileage examples; the odometer might lie but sagging driver's seats and shiny steering wheel rims won't. (approx based on a Ford Granada 2.9 V6) A starter motor is just over £160 (plus a £30 surcharge for the old unit), a front wing about £115, a door mirror is around £70 and a tail lamp is about £50. On the road, the big Ford handles pretty well for a car of its size - though potholes can be a little unsettling for it. The steering, though a little light at first, builds in 'feel' as your speed rises enabling the car to be hustled along with surprising pace if the need arises. Behind the wheel, everything falls to hand easily.

new 2011 Ford Fiesta

The new 2011 Ford Fiesta subcompact car is selling for more on average than the Ford Focus compact car as buyers choose to load the popular Fiesta with options. The Preston Automotive group is proud to sell the Ford Fiesta in Preston MD, Ford Fiesta in Pittsville MD, and Ford Fiesta in Denton MD.

The EPA rates the Fiesta with 40 MPG highway and 29 MPG city mileage. It's a premium small car,” says Jim Farley, Ford's global marketing chief. We're selling more Focuses as a result of the Fiesta.”

No doubt helped by the incredible buzz around the all-new Ford Fiesta, the small-car segments showed more sales growth in September than any other car category.
I'm again relying on data from Motor Intelligence here, and those folks give the following numbers on the car side for September: Car sales as a whole were up by 18 percent last month, with "mid-size" entries ahead by 17.9 percent, "luxury" products seeing a 10.2 percent rise and sales of "large" cars dropping 28.2 percent. The results for "small" cars: A relatively healthy 26 percent jump.
When you look at year-to-date numbers, however, which show small cars still off of last year's pace by 2.4 percent, you can get a feeling for how atypical September's sudden increase in small-car sales really was.
The ancient Hyundai Accent, one of the Fiesta's in-segment rivals, chalked up 4,885 sales of its own last month. Now working on a year-to-date sales rate about 25.9 percent below last year's, the Fit saw a whopping 45.9 percent sales improvement in September itself.

It also gets some parts that are actually available for purchase at Ford Racing Parts' website: a short-throw shifter and Ford Racing exhaust. The other Fiestas to take the stand at SEMA include an appearance-package car by Ford Vehicle Personalization, featuring a body kit, a white-and-black interior package, and graphics. Universal Technical Institute's Fiesta will be a bit racier, with an Air Lift digital suspension, roll cage, Status racing seats, Baer brakes, 18-inch wheels, and a custom DuPont paint job. Steeda's SEMA Fiesta follows a similar tack, with a short-throw shifter, cold-air intake, sport springs, retuned shocks, front strut-tower brace, anti-roll bars, and a custom paint job. FSWerks will show a Fiesta with a "cool flow" air intake, race exhaust, body kit, and custom wheels

New 2012 Ford Focus

2012 Ford Focus will offer advanced new airbags when it goes on sale in early 2011.
The new driver front airbag offers enhanced chest protection.
The new driver front airbag offers enhanced "chest protection" technology designed to help reduce chest and rib injuries, said Ford in a statement. The front passenger airbag on the 2012 Ford Focus will "help enhance head and neck protection by better matching deployment force with occupant size," said Ford.

One of the best examples of that is the 2012 Ford Focus. We’ve already seen the standard car, but now the hatchback performance model is being previewed with the Focus ST showcar.
The headlights and fascia have lost the nice detailing that is apparent on the production sedan Focus. The interior doesn’t disappoint either, with a modern, sporty look befitting of the Focus ST’s performance intentions. Top notch? Definitely.
Ford’s EcoBoost powertrain has made waves for its performance and attributes of high power generation while still returning good fuel economy figures.
We’ve witnessed that for ourselves on numerous test vehicles. The benefit for the V-6 EcoBoost models is V-8 power with V-6 fuel economy.
Here, the Focus ST has a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder making 247 horsepower. The Focus ST will be the hottest Focus hatchback until the new RS arrives.

2011 Ford Shelby GT500 review

Ford has introduced a heavily revised version of its Shelby GT500 range-topper for its latest model year. For the first time, Ford's Shelby GT500 is going to an all-aluminum version of the 5.4-liter supercharged V8 that was in the 2010 GT500. The latest Shelby GT500 will be the first modern Shelby without a gas guzzler tax, thanks to the EPA-projected 15 mpg city, and 23 mpg highway ratings. Likely the most significant option change for the GT500 is the SVT Performance Package, giving the GT500 a track-ready performance pack from the factory. Ford attributes a 3.0-second lap time savings over the outgoing coupe on the 2.3-mile test track.

SVT says it added slotted brake dust shields to help improve brake cooling and handling, as well as a new pedal box with is aimed at improving clutch and pedal efforts.

The "2011 Ford Shelby GT500" is a high-performance variant of the Mustang. The GT500 convertible also comes with a power-operated soft top. Both the GT500 coupe and convertible have "GT500" side stripes, while the coupe also has racing stripes over the nose and tail.

Options include a glass roof for the coupe, an Electronics package (hard-drive-based navigation system, HD radio and dual-zone climate control), an upgraded 10-speaker 1,000-watt sound system and the SVT Performance package (unique 19-inch front/20-inch rear wheels, higher-performance tires, revised suspension calibrations, unique stripes/rear spoiler and a 3.73 limited-slip rear axle).

Standard on the 2011 Ford "Shelby GT500" are ABS, traction control, stability control and front-seat side airbags. Rear-passenger side-impact protection also garnered five stars. The GT500 also has Ford's excellent Sync system that allows voice commands for your cell phone, the audio system and the (optional) navigation system.

2011 Ford Fiesta has earned Top Safety

The 2011 Ford Fiesta has earned Top Safety Pick honors from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the first minicar to earn the designation.

The 2011 Fiesta earned the Top Safety Pick moniker by featuring standard stability control, Side Protection and Cabin Enhancement (SPACE) architecture and an impressive number of airbags including a driver's knee airbag, dual-stage first-row airbags and side-impact and side curtain airbags.
The 2011 Ford Fiesta -- those built after July of this year -- has just been awarded a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

The award's standards changed recently when rollover protection was emphasized with a more stringent roof strength requirement.

The Fiesta earned good ratings in the front, side, rear, and rollover tests, but also has stability control as standard equipment.

The 2011 Ford Fiesta is the first minicar to earn the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's (IIHS) Top Safety Pick award since the addition of rollover roof strength testing. The 2011 Fiesta scored "good," the top rating from the IIHS, in front, side, rollover and rear crash protection while featuring electronic stability control standard on all models. Fully loaded, the 2011 Fiesta can reach above $23,000--well into midsize sedan territory.

ROUSHcharger Tuner Kit for the 2011 Ford Mustang GT

Ford Mustang GT

Roush Performance Products has launched the 5.0L ROUSHcharger Tuner Kit for the 2011 "Ford Mustang GT". Shedding off the initial output ratings of 412 hp from the 5.0-liter Mustang, the engine now produces 550 hp on pump gasoline with more than 470 lb-ft of torque.

Also included in the kit are 47 lb. fuel injectors, high-flow fuel rails, a high-flow ROUSH air lid, and a twin 60mm throttle body. 5.0L ROUSHcharger Tuner Kit has been priced at $5,999.00 and is available now.

Earlier this week, Ford Racing rolled out the official information on the Ford Racing/Whipple supercharger packages for the "2011 Ford Mustang GT" and last night, the folks at Roush Performance of Livonia formally dropped the specs on their new supercharger setup for the 2011 5.0L.

The 2011 Ford Mustang GT Roush supercharger currently comes in just one form – the 5.0 ROUSHcharger Tuner Kit – and there are a variety of differences between this new package and the kits offered by Ford Racing. The up-side to the Roush kit for the 2011 Mustang GT is that in this form, it offers 550 horsepower at 7psi of boost where the Ford Racing/Whipple kit offers just 525hp and at the same time, the Roush kit carries an MSRP over a thousand dollars lower. However, this new Roush kit DOES NOT maintain the factory engine warranty where the Ford Racing entry-level (525hp) kit not only maintains the warranty, but comes with a 12-month, 12,000 mile warranty of its own. Another advantage of the Roush Tuner Kit for the 2011 Mustang GT is the company’s statement that this kit can be tuned to make over 600 horsepower with an upgraded fuel system and bottom end (engine internals) along with a smaller pulley.
